Gunwalker requires a special prosecutor

Gunwalker never should have happened… but it did.

Now we know that 150 Mexican law enforcement officers have been killed by some of the estimated 2,000 firearms that a ATF/DOJ/DHS/IRS task force allowed criminals to smuggle across the border (and out of their jurisdiction) to arm Mexican cartels.

At this very least this scandal reveals arguably criminal negligence on the part of those Executive branch officials that green-lighted Operation Fast and Furious. The operation turned American law enforcement agencies into accessories to hundreds of counts of murder. Inspectors General within each agency must do a post-mortem of their role in the operation and enact policies to ensure that such a debacle never happens again, but that goes without saying.

What is required, as I argue at Pajamas Media, is the appointment of an independent special prosecutor.

Towards that end I electronically filed a complaint with the Office of Special Counsel yesterday afternoon formally asking for an investigation to be launched. Justice must be sought, or we are no longer a nation of laws.
