The Eric Scott saga continues

The police inquest is over, and unsurprisingly absolved Las Vegas Metro Police officers of shooting former soldier Erik Scott seven times (including five times from behind) in front of a Costco among dozens of tightly packed shoppers.

We are now waiting to see what criminal, civil, or civil rights cases may come out of the shooting.

My co-blogger at Confederate Yankee, Mike McDaniel, is a former police officer, detective, and SWAT operator, and has providing the very best analysis of this shooting anywhere, online or in print.

Here is the series of articles he has written so far:

  1. Analysis of a Death: The Erik Scott Shooting
  2. The Erik Scott Shooting: Update 2
  3. The Erik Scott Shooting: Update 3
  4. The Erik Scott Shooting: Update 3.2
  5. The Erik Scott Shooting: Update 4
  6. The Eric Scott Shooting: Update 5 (The Future)

In addition to Mike’s analysis I’ve added a few developments of my own, such as breaking the story that Scott’s fellow United States Military Academy graduates are bringing their power to bear to push for a federal civil rights investigation into the actions of the Las Vegas Police department, and not just in Scott’s case.

Based upon what we know–and perhaps more tellingly, what we don’t–the investigation surrounding Erik Scott’s death is far from over.
