Personally, I think he was way out of bounds. Even the most aggressive recliners rarely need more than a whack on the nose with a rolled up newspaper. Pulling out a .44 magnum and a pair of knives seems a bit extreme, no matter how unruly upholstered goods get.
I wasn’t there, though, so I’m glad that Mr. Paine will have his day in court to make his case to the judge and jury:
A Maryville man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and felony reckless endangerment Saturday after allegedly shooting a couch with a .44 Magnum.
William Michael Paine Jr., 24, Mountain View Circle, Maryville, was taken into custody at an area restaurant with the handgun still in his possession, according to a Blount County Sheriff’s Office report.
Shockingly, alcohol was allegedly involved.
